We are a thriving and successful Scout Group which has now been running in our Parish for over 60 years. Since our formation in 1951, the 28th Croydon Scout Group has grown considerably in size and we now have 2 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs and 3 Scout Troops. With around 200 members we are now one of the largest Groups in Croydon and one of the largest Catholic Scout Groups in the UK.
The purpose of Scouting is to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to their community.
As Scouts we are guided by our core values of: Integrity, Respect, Care, Belief and Cooperation
Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and:
- enjoy what they are doing and have fun;
- take part in activities indoors and outdoors;
- learn by doing;
- share in spiritual reflection;
- take responsibility and make choices;
- undertake new and challenging activities; and
- make and live by their Promise.
How Can You Help Us?
We are looking for help either as uniformed leaders or regular helpers offering a variety of skills or as an extra pair of hands. Some of our Sections may no longer be able to welcome any more young people due to lack of leaders/adult support. No previous experience is required.
The beauty of Scouting is that as adults you can learn with the young people, have great fun and the Scout Association offers a flexible adult training programme to fit most busy lives. Most of our leaders work full time and have family and other commitments, but we all work as a team to support and help each other.
